My three loves
I now officially have three loves in my life:
1. Olivia
2. My Parents
3. My 2008 Honda Civic
Yep, the Echo is gone baby. R.I.P 2002-2008. Not scrapped, but sold for a cool 5K to a young guy with a family who is going to law school this fall...so that was cool. It will live on with a good home...okay, that's lame but still I did have a little attachment to it. Dealer offered me a crap trade-in (a really insulting offer) so I went private party. I could have got more since KBB was over 6K but I wanted to turn it quick to get my new baby so I sold it for 5. Still, not too bad of a value for a car that cost just over 10K new and that had 6 years and 70,000 miles of wear on it.
Now, with that said, on to my new baby. The name is pending, but I really think it should have some kind of name...or maybe not. Personalized license plates are also be debating to make me really look like a goof.
2008 Honda Civic Sedan EX
Auto Transmission
Color: Alabaster Silver

20 Things I Love About It:
1 - The two-tiered instrumental panel. People complained about it on internet reviews yet it's kind of like the best thing ever. You can see your mph while looking perfectly ahead and the interior lit up at night is the shit.
2 - Road noise. People complained about it on internet reviews yet this thing glides through the road and it's so smooth. I mean, I'm coming from a Toyota Echo but come on...
3 - The Si's looked really cool but my lack of skill with manual transmission, love for high gas mileage and need for low car insurance nixed that. That being said, this thing has plenty of power. For me at least.
4 - The steering wheel and steering wheel controls just feel perfect. I know that sounds minor, but you really notice when you grip the wheel how good it feels in your hand and the buttons for the music and cruise are ergonomically perfect.
5 - The stock stereo doesn't sound good playing the radio but the CD playback is great (miles and miles better ...who knows why), and since I now have an Aux input for iPod line out and can play mp3 CDs I will pretty much never ever ever listen to FM radio again. Thank god. I may put subs in some day but there is no pressing need as it sounds quite nice as is.
6 - Moonroof is quick to open and perfectly located. Quite frankly, I'm ecstatic to have power door locks even but all the electronics work great and are located logically They really pay attention to all the details at Honda. The cabin couldn't be laid out perfectly. I mean even the cupholders are square with tighteners that grip the drink if you want to bourgeois and have Fiji water.
7 - I really like the wing spoiler, sue me. (I should - I paid for it.) 2 Fast 2 Furious, brah.
8 - Did I mention my last car didn't have power door locks and power windows?
9 - The stock wheels look really good to me so there is no pressing need to get rims as they fill out the wheel-well and I'd really rather save my money and not deal with shady wheel shops for the time being.
10 - It electronically measures oil life so no having to keep track of mileage. I'm sure it errs on the side of you getting lots of oil changes but I'm going to protective as fuck over my baby so I'm going to sip the Honda Kool-Aid.
11 - The size. I wouldn't want anything bigger than this. (That's what she said - before any of you try it.) It's bigger than I anticipated and almost feels more like the previous Accords I have riden in rather than Civics. Hopefully the upsizing doesn't continue as this is the perfect size car in my estimation.
12 - I can't wait to get 35% tint all the way around. That's going to look sick.
13 - The dash has a flat part to the right of the 2nd tier of the instrument control panel which would be perfect for a temporary mounting of a Garmin Nuvi on trips. I didn't get leather and the Navi in the car saving 3k but I would like to put 250 dollars of that to the cheap Nuvi if I ever want to go to San Diego, Las Vegas or the like.
14 - Speaking of not getting leather, I'm very happy with the comfort of the cloth seats and I think they will hold up pretty well over time, though I might get some kind of seat covers eventually.
15 - Other future upgrades which would increase my desire to permanently live in the car would be interior illumination (I would DIY but I'm real nervous) and a chrome exhaust finisher. Both shouldn't be too hard. Also, I might put some kind of new air filter on it but when it comes to performance upgrades I'm pretty fucking clueless plus it's a Civic and I have no desire to even accelerate that fast or speed so that might be a waste.
16 - There is a little screen which slides over the two front cupholders which doesn't really have a purpose but just makes the shit look clean when you don't have anything in there or if you want to cover something up. The car is full of little shit like that which is just cool. My dad got rearended the other week and got a Chrysler Sebring as a rental and I can thoroughly say it has one of the most depressing interiors of all time...it looks like a horrible moving government building. I seriously might just take a nap in my Civic just because I feel happy in it.
17 - People complained about the location of the E-brake but I'm 6'2" and it doesn't bother me and actually is kind of a nice little rest for my leg.
18 - The back seat and the trunk has kind of a ridiculous amount of room for the size of the car.
19 - Gas mileage. I didn't lose any from the Echo (or a very minimal amount at best) and I have a larger tank, so I have more range for roadtrips and such. I guess that doesn't make a big difference but I really hate stopping at the gas station because it always happens on the days where I need to be a bunch of places, seemingly. (While I'm saying obvious shit: And what's the deal with the black box? Why don't they just make the whole plane out of it?
20 - Seriously, look at my last car, compared to the Civic:

And yes, that might be the most embarrassing thing of all time. The picture if from Jan. 2002 when I got the Toyota as my first car. I really debated whether to post this but hey if you can't make fun of yourself then you can't really talk shit about everyone else. Thus, have at it, people.
